Thanks to my other half, I was lucky enough to be invited at Totoraku. This restaurant is one of many secret places around Los Angeles. The only way for you to get in is to know someone who has been here before. If you are lucky enough to get invited in, do not be fooled by the front of the restaurant. It will say, “Teriyaki House of Pico”. The first thing that pops up in my head is the price of meat. It’s just meat right? Imagine the best quality meat you’ve ever tasted. Meat so good, you don’t even need to cook it. Meat so good, you don’t even need a knife to cut it. That’s exactly how this place was for me. It’s your choice to cook the meat or eat it raw, just a preference.

This place has the best meat I’ve ever tasted, and eaten. It will be very hard or almost impossible to beat. Why? Because of Kaz Oyama’s passion, the chef and owner of Totoraku. When someone is passionate about their craft, the outcome is greater than 100%. Oyama-san is one of the few chefs you’ll ever meet that has very high discipline in his craft. Some say he is the Jiro (sushi) of meat. You will understand when you meet him. Oyama-san believes, to achieve great flavor, you have to understand your source. Don’t look at the price, but taste the quality.
