Metro Day
Sunday 2010.06.27 10:20AM PST
Address: Little Tokyo, China Town, Downtown, Los Angeles
My first time taking Los Angeles public transportation in 8 years! Los Angeles doesn't have a good reputation when it come to public transportation, it's horrible. However, the Orange Line and the Red Line will take you straight to Downtown Los Angeles all the way to Little Tokyo and China Town. My friend and I planned this adventure last week, we just thought it would be a nice experience to take public transportation to Little Tokyo and China Town... So we did. ( >^~^) >

Wow, this is embarrassing, do we really need this many instructions for crossing the street?

That's it. The subway line... I know it's not much but we have one. Haha! Go Metro!

My friend shows us how to purchase an all day pass for $5.00.

Reminds me of the time when I was putting some money on my PASMO Card.

This is the Orange Line station.

Very strict!

Here comes the Orange Line.

Starts at the Warner Center and ends at North Hollywood. That's where we take the Red Line.

Comparing shoes... Which one is mine?

The seats are so colorful.

Cosplay!? Here!? Wow! Later I found out they were heading the same direct as us. To Little Tokyo. Apparently, there was a cosplay gathering! I missed it though -_-;

From Pierce College station to the Red Line, it took about 30 minutes.

Did not need to buy tickets, we purchased the all day pass earlier.

It's the ceiling at the North Hollywood Red Line station.

Yes, our subway system is very basic.

Another 30 minutes from North Hollywood stations to Civic Center.

Next time I'll go around Koreatown and take photos for everyone.

I thought this shot was pretty cool... What do you think?

The main Los Angeles Times building.

Los Angeles City Hall.

Weird, strange, unexplainable statues...

This cool looking building here is Caltrans, California Department of Transportation.

Sister Cities of Los Angeles. Can you find yours?

I see Nagoya!

Lunch time at Curry House in Little Tokyo.

I tried their new dish. It's called Dry Curry. It was very good!

Let's walk around Little Tokyo for a bit.

There will be a big meet and greet gathering here after Anime Expo 2010. Hopefully Danny Choo will be joining in on the party!

The restaurant is upstairs.

How is the Wakasaya? Has anyone tried this place? I have been meaning to try it out, but never got around to it. Let me know how is it for those of you who tried it.
I know they have a Bikku Don Challenge. If you finish the bowl in 15 minutes it's free, but if not, it's $44.80.

The Japanese American National Museum.

This is another station. It's the Gold Line, and this will take us to China Town!

Our current location.

That lady seems so happy seeing the train. ^^;

Little Tokyo and China Town are very close to each other. It only took 5 minutes to get to China Town. from the Gold Line

Welcome to China Town!

For a second I thought it was a fancy restaurant...

A map that indicate where I am.

Do you recognize this? Here's a hint, Rush Hour 1.

There was a tour going on. Lots of Chinese tourist in town.

Time for a break. It's hot and have been walking all day.

Egg Custard.

With Taro Boba... Sadly, this Taro Boba failed me because whoever made it... Made it really sweet! I don't like!

Yes, I didn't know there was a Little Mexico until my friend told me.

Do you see the Hello Kitty mask?

Los Angeles is great isn't it? You can go to different countries with the area.

Yea, we have no rules. In Japan the people that walk go on the right and the people that stand on the left... Here, that rule doesn't apply hahah!

I learn something new today. There is actually a station right in the middle of Hollywood and Vine. What does that mean?

It takes you right in the middle of the action! El Capitan!

Jackie Chan!

Welcome to Hollywood!

Now everytime I come here, I'll just take the Red Line. That way I don't have to deal with traffic and parking. (^_^ ) Thanks James!

After hanging around for a bit, it's time to go back home.

A quick snack! This is the Big Wings in North Hollywood.

Buffalo Wings!
Taking the public transportation was actually fun and got to learn some tricks navigating around town without a car. It's great simply because I didn't have deal with traffic and it was very convenient. Now everytime I want to go to Little Tokyo, China Town, Little Mexico, or Hollywood, I'll just use public transportation. I forgot to mention, you save a lot of money on gas too.
