2010 Japan Trip 2 Day 5

Sunday 2010.12.26 10:25AM JST

Address: Ikebukuro, Nakano, Ginza

Meeting up with a friend for lunch today. Going to an "All You Can Eat" shabu shabu place in Ikebukuro. The place is located on the top floor of the Yamada Denki building. I'm so excited! I love shabu shabu, and I was told you can half the pot so you can get sukiyaki too! Nothing much on the agenda today. Just want to take some night photos of Ginza later tonight, because last night when I went out at around 11:00pm, all the pretty lights were turned off... Sad... -_-;

Empty today...

Waiting for the train...

Japan trains are 95% on time!

Yea!!! Here we go Ikebukuro!

Looks like you can film a nice Kamen Rider fight scene here. Henshin!

A book store inside Sunshine City with Totoro!

Animate building.

Love Manga? You should come to Animate. It's less crowded than Akihabara and the entire building is full of manga.

Lunch time!

Pork.

Beef to the right.

Japanese eggs are very different from American eggs... They taste better and you can eat them like this.

Shabu shabu / Sukiyaki.

Can't do this with American eggs... Unless you buy "Natural Farm" raised chicken eggs.

Did not get dessert in Ikebukuro. Went all the way to Nakano for that.

I was tempted to get that huge one, but I won't be able to finish it. I got the one next to it, but Green Tea (抹茶) flavor.

After spending the rest of the day is Nakano, looking for a Kamen Rider Decade DX belt, and actually saw one for sale for 9100円, too expensive! It was time to head back.

Got back and it was perfect because the light in Ginza were still lit up.

The entire building was an animated screen. Pretty cool.

Apple store.

This was a Nissan building that was promoting the Leaf. Looks so futuristic inside.

Famous Hattori Clock Tower at night.

Ending it with the famous Hattori Clock Tower again. Read up on the history of this tower, it's very interesting. Danny Choo actually blogged about "History of Ginza"
and if you haven't read it yet, you should. Talk about how this tower got bombed, destroyed, and rebuilt over and over again.
